Identifying genuine emails from Telstra or BigPond

How can I tell if an email is really from Telstra?

Here are some simple sense checks, to help you tell a genuine Telstra email from a scam.
For a start, we'll only email you:
  • If you've already contacted us via email (or via one of our websites). If so, the first email you get from us will always be an acknowledgement of your message - followed up by our response or reply.
  • If you've signed up to Telstra Online Services (or you're a BigPond Member), we may contact you via email from time to time with information about our services or our customer Terms & Conditions.
  • If you've opted-in to receive our newsletter of marketing information via email.
So, if you receive an email from us and you think it might be fake, don't open it or any attachments that come with it.
If an email asks you to take any action on your account, it's always safer to visit telstra.com or media.telstra.com.au directly in your browser and log into your account from there.

Finally, if you ever want to verify whether an email has really been sent to you by Telstra or BigPond, you can always contact us.
