Transitioning your alarm monitoring service to the nbn™ network

As the nbn network rolls out, alarm systems monitored over PSTN (fixed) lines will cease working and need a nbn-ready solution. Therefore, if your alarm monitoring service currently runs on the PSTN, it is important you take steps before you transition to the nbn network to ensure your alarm can continue to keep your assets and premises safe during and after transition.

 

Telstra can help you in a way that leverages your existing alarm equipment. Telstra offers a nbn-ready solution which bundles monitoring plans with a wireless device that connects your existing compatible alarm panel to the Telstra mobile network, meaning that when you transition to the nbn network your alarm panel and monitoring service are no longer reliant on the PSTN and remain compliant with the Australian Security Standard for battery back-up

Things You Need to Know

Although the monitoring is wireless with Business Protect, you will still need to move your affected business fixed phones/broadband onto the nbn™ network when it becomes available. You need to be in the Telstra Mobile Network coverage area for wireless monitoring and you’ll need to have a compatible alarm panel in order to take up Business Protect. See telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/coverage-networks/our-coverage/index.htm for coverage areas. The alarm monitoring service and installation is provided by Telstra SNP Monitoring Pty Ltd (TSM). Monitoring and Installation is done by Telstra SNP Monitoring Pty Ltd. To meet the accredited level, your alarm panel must also comply with the AS2201.5 2007/2008 Standard.
